Friend of Friends Friday: Ranaway - Thomas & Suana Bredon

$30 REWARD -- Ranaway from the subscriber's farm, lying on the Potomac river, near Alexandria, on the night of the 11th instant, two negroes, THOMAS BREDON and his wife SUANA. Thomas is between 45 and 50 years of age, and about 5 feet 9 or 10 inches in height; he is of dark complexion and has an impediment in his speech, and is a little gray.  Suana is of a ginger color, and is about 35 or 40 years of age, and about 4 feet 6 or 7 inches in height.  The jawbone of the right side of her face has no flesh on it. They were formerly the property of Miss Tolson, of Prince William county, Virginia. The said negroes I purchased from Dr. Alexander H. Tolson, of Prince George's county, Maryland, who brought them from near Haymarket, Prince William county, Virginia. These are the same negroes which I advertised on the 27th of March last. I will give the above reward if returned to me, or secured in jail so that I get them again.

In the name of God Amen I John R. Wright of the County of Prince William do make & ordain this my last will & testament. 

First I will and desire that after the payment of all my just debts & my well beloved wife Sally have the use of all my Estate to raise and educate my Children upon untill my oldest child arives to the age of Twenty one years & there to be divided as follows:

Item when my oldest child arives at the age of twenty one years I will & bequeath unto my well beloved wife Sally one third part of my Estate. Item when my oldest child shall have arrived at the age of twenty one I will and desire that the other two thirds of my estate not heretofore divided to my wife be divided into five equal parts one of which parts or fifth part of said two thirds I bequeath to my son Hubbard.  Item one other fifth part of said two thirds I bequeath to my son John (at the time when my oldest child shall have arived at the age of twenty one years). Item when my eldest child arives at the age of twenty one years I bequeath to my daughter Maryann one other fifth part of said two thirds of my estate as aforesaid. Item when my oldest child arives to the age of Twenty one years I bequeath to my son Thomas one other fifth part of said two thirds of my estate. Item and when my said oldest child arives to the age of twenty one, I bequeath one other of fith part of said two thirds of my estate to the child my wife is now pregnant with and if any of my children before mentioned or the one with which my wife is noe pregnant should die before it arrives at the age of twenty one years my will & desire is that the part devised to that be divided among the surviving children except such child dying should marry & have a child or children in which event my desire is that the said child or children do possess the part of their parent and lastly I appoint my beloved wife Sally my brother in law Wm. Tolson & my brother Burditt Wright my Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills & testaments.  Given from under my hand & seal this [ ] day of October 1807.

ANNIE E. TOLSON

Mrs. Annie E. Tolson, wife of Mr. L. G. Tolson, died at her home near Independent Hill, Va., March 18, in her 67th year.  Mrs. Tolson had been in ill health for several years and a great sufferer for the past few months.

She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, two sons, Messrs. Clay and Claude Tolson of Washington, D.C., also a brother, Mr. Billie Keys of North Carolina and a large number of relatives and friends.

She was a loving wife and a kind mother.  Her remains were laid to rest on Sunday in Woodbine churchyard.  Rev. Miller, pastor of Minnieville Baptist church, officiated.

Wedding Bells

Miss Mary Carrie Copen, daughter of Mr. C. W. Copen, and Mr. Joseph B. Florence were married Wednesday June 12th at 11 a. m. at the home of the bride's parents in this county, Elder Geo. W. Lowe officiating.  The bride entered the parlor with the groom.  She was beautifully dressed in white and carried brides roses arranged in a shower bo[u]quet.  Miss Nannie L. Florence, maid of honor proceeded the bride, wearing white and carrying pink roses.  Miss Sallie Lynn was bridesmaid.  Mr. W. W. Tolson was the groom's best man.  Mr. Meredith Florence, usher.  Only relatives and a few family friends were present.  The bride and groom left for a short trip to Washington after the wedding dinner was served.
