JAMES W. NALLS DEAD
Confederate Veteran Passes Away at His House Near Antioch
James W. Nalls died September 6 at his home near Waterfall, at the age of seventy-seven. He had been in ill health for number of years but the direct cause of his death was thought to have been a fall which he sustained five weeks ago.
Mr. Nalls was a Confederate veteran and served throughout the war between the states as a member of the Eight Virginia infantry. He was born in Fauquier county January 1, 1844 and had been a member of the Gainesville M.E. Church for a number of years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lucy L. Nalls, of Antioch, and nine children, James D. Nalls, of Gainesville; Morgan W. Nalls, of West Falls Church; Mr.s Jennie Bause, of Antioch; Mrs. Dora Byroad, of Arlington; Mrs. Lula Tingstram, of Clarendon; Mrs. Bettie Leathers, Mrs. Eva Thompson and John H. Nalls, of Washington. He also leaves three brother sand one sister, Mr. Richard Nalls, of Manassas; Mr. Jackson Nalls, of Spencer, N.C., and Mrs. Lena Cornell, of Mount Rainier, Md.; twenty five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Antioch on September 9 by Rev. T. D. D. Clark, of Manassas. The pallbearers were: Messrs. Archie Nalls, Levi Nalls, Ashby Nalls, William Nalls and Albert Leathers.
Prince William County, Virginia is rich in history. Formed in 1731, it was named for Prince William, Duke of Cumberland, son of King George II. This blog is intended as a place for descendants and researchers of PWCo families to find and share information.

Sunday's Obituary: Mary M. (Harrison) Jordan

On the 12th of February, at "Fairmount Mills," near Culpeper Court House, the residence of her son-in-law, MR. Wm. C. Nalls, Mrs. MARY M. JORDAN, in the 76th year of her age. Mrs. Jordan was the twin sister of Mr. B. E. Harrison, and was born in Prince William County, where she resided until 1848, when she removed to her son's, in Fauquier county, and from thence to "Fairmount Mills," to be with, and taken care of by, her daughter, Mrs. Nalls. She was, and has been for man years, a member of the Baptist Church, and though in her last illness she was racked by pain, she retained a rational mind to the last, and expressed her full confidence in the faith and assurance of her profession.

DIED, Mr. WILLIAM M. NALLS, at the hour of 3 o'clock, A.M., December 3rd, in the 65th year of his age, after a lingering illness of three months. Mr. Nalls was formerly of Prince William County, Va., and previous to his removal to this city, about twelve months since, he resided several years at the Columbian College, Washington city, D.C. He was for many years a member of the Baptist Church. The remains will be carried from his late residence, corner of Henry and Wilkes streets, this morning, to the Depot, thence by Railroad to Thoroughfare Station, where they will be interred.

Washingtonians Who Will Attend the Reunion of the Band
The Washington men who were with Mosby will meet at Confederate Hall tomorrow evening at 7:30 o'clock to make arrangements to attend the annual reunion of the famous band, which is to take place at Manassas on October 25.
The local committee on arrangements is composed of R. M. Harrover, Durand Shackleford, and M. M. Marmaduke. The Washington men who will attend the reunion are: A. J. Biedler, T. R. Prince William Gives Again of Her Youth That Democracy May be Safe -- Four Go to Charlottesville
The largest contingent of Prince William county young men to answer the call to colors for several months will leave for training on Saturday, May 25. Nineteen of them will go direct to Camp Lee for military training and four left today for Charlottesville where they will enter the University of Virginia as volunteers and where they will receive mechanical training for military service.
