THIS DEED made this 20th. day of September, in the year 1902; between Henry A. M[e]yer and Irene E, his wife, William H. Cather and Mary E., his wife, Benjamin N. Merchant and May B. his wife and John B. Pridmore, the heirs at law of Benson L. Pridmore decd. of the first part, and Henry J. Ayres of the secon dpart;

Witnesseth: -- that the said parties of the first in consideration of the sum of One thousand six hundred dollars in hand paid to them by the said Ayers, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, have given, granted, bargained and sold and do by these presents give, grant, bargain, sell and convey with general warranty, unto the said Ayers, all that certain tract or parcel of land lying and being situate in the county of Prince William, containing 164-3/4 acres, and is composed of the following tracts of land, to wit;

1st. a tract of land lying in the said county, known as the "Stone House property" on both sides of the Warrenton and Alexandria turnpike, and adjoining the lands of Henry F. Lynn, James Robinson, Martin Matthew, and others, and on the east of Sudley Mill and Manassas road and containing 137 acres more or less; and is the same land conveyed to the said Benson L. Pridmore decd. by George E. Starbuck by deed of bargain and sale recorded in the county court of the said county in LIber 33 page 147.

2nd. A certain tract of land lying in the said county on Youngs Branch, and containing 21 acres and 31 poles, and is the same land conveyed to the said Benson L. Pridmore decd. by Q. L. Sanford, by deed of bargain and sale recorded in the said county in Liber 32 page 614, and the

3rd. A part of the tract of land known as "Rosefield" of which John D. Dogan died seized and possessed, and contains 6-1/2 acres more or less and is the same land conveyed to the said Benson L. Pridmore decd. by John Cross and wife by deed of bargain and sale recorded in the said county court in Liber 34 page 509.

And the parties of the first part covenant that they have the right to convey the said tract of land, that they have done no act to encumber the same, and that they will execute such further assurances as may be requisite.  Witness the following signatures and seals.

Military Monday: Instructions for Ration Book

INSTRUCTIONS FOR RATION BOOK

Registration for War Ration Book No. 4 will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, according to Richard C. Haydon, Prince William County registration chairman. County schools will be closed all day Friday in order that the work may be completed. Teachers in the following schools designated as registration places will have charge of issuing the new books:

Osbourn High School, Manassas, R. Worth Peters, chairman; Haymarket New School, Mrs. Nelson Lynn, chairman; Nokesville High School, C. O. Bittle, chairman; Occoquan High School, Mrs. Mae T. Sanford, chairman; Woodbine School, Miss Sue Ayres, chairman; Dumfries Graded School, Mrs. Wallace Lynn, chairman; Quantico Masonic Hall (for civilians), Miss Margaret Powell, chairman. A registration place within the Quantico Military Post for military personnel will be announced later.

Mr. Haydon requests that residents make applications as early as possible to avoid last-minute congestion. One member of a family, 18 years of age or older, may register for the entire family. The registrant must present War Ration Book No. 3 for each member of the household for whom application is made.

In the name of God Amen I SOLOMON EWELL JR. of Bele Ville in the County of Prince William & State of Virginia from the uncertainty of this my mortal life do make this my last will & testament in the following manner.  To wit, I first & principally commend my Soul to Almighty God, praying His forgiveness of all my sins thro the mediation of our blessed Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.  After my just debts are paid I bequeath to my loving wife SARAH BALL EWELL all the property then in possession or may be entitled to & all of which that was conveyed to JAS. E. HEATH by deed of trust for her use & benefit, to be disposed of in any manner she may think most proper during her life.  But should she die without a will, I bequeath all the remaining property to be equally divided between JESSE EWELL WEEMS of Dumfries & JESSE EWELL JR. of Chapel House & their heirs forever.  In witness whereof I affix my hand & seal this eleventh of July eighteen hundred & fourteen.

This last will and testament of SOLOMON EWELL JR. decd. was presented to the Court and the same was proved to be all in the hand writing of the sd. EWELL by the oaths of CHS. EWELL & JESSE EWELL & admitted to record.  And administration with the will annexed of the Estate of SOLOMON EWELL JR. decd is granted to SARAH B. EWELL who took the oath of an admr. And entered into and ackd. a bond with security according to law.

In the name of God Amen I ROBERT THURMAN of Prince William County and State of Virginia being of sound mind and memory do make this my last will and testament as follow.  I give and bequeath unto my loving wife ELIZABETH THURMAN all my estate real and personal during her natural life and after her death to my children.  To my son EDMOND I give and bequeathe four hundred dollars payable in twelve months after the decease of my wife.  I also give and bequeath unto my grand daughter ANN FRANCIS, daughter of WM. THURMAN deceased the sum of two hundred dollars.  I also give and bequeath unto my son THOMAS a negro boy named AMOS.  I also give and bequeath the unto my son SANFORD the following negroes BARNETT, NAT and DANIEL.  I also give and bequeath unto my son JOHN a negro man named HENSON.  I also give and bequeath unto my daughter CATHERINE the following negroes SILVEY and JESSE.  I also give and bequeath unto my daughter PEGGY FEWELL the following negros ANN and her child SINAH.  I also give and bequeath unto my son JAMES the following NELL and ISAAC.  I also give and bequeath unto my grand children ELIZABETH FEWELL, WILLIAM FEWELL and ROBERT THURMAN son of JOHN a negro girl by the name of MARIAH.  I also give and bequeath unto my children THOMAS, SANFORD, and CATHARINE each one feather bed and one cow and calf.  I also give and bequeath unto my son SANFORD my lease called Thomas Lot.  I also give and bequeath unto my sons THOMAS and JOHN my Lease called Seales Lot.  I also give and bequeath unto my following children THOMAS, JAMES, JOHN, SANFORD, PEGGY and CATHARINE the balance of my estate to be equally divided between them after the death of my wife.  I appoint my sons THOMAS & SANFORD sole Executors of my estate, given under my hand this eleventh day of October in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and seventeen.

At a Court of Quarterly Sessions held for Prince William County Nov the 3^rd 1817.  This last will and testament of RBT. THURMAN decd. was presented to the Court and being proved by the oaths of JOHN M. WILKINSON and WM. L. WILKINSON, was thereupon admitted to record and –

At a Court held for said County Feby 2^nd 1818, THOMAS THURMAN one of the executors named in the last will and testament of ROBT. THURMAN decd. came into Court and made oath to the same according to law, and having taken the oath of an executor and performed what is usual in such cases, certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.
