Letter from Prince William County.

DUMFRIES, August 21 -- We have had for the last ten days a very interesting revival here in the M. E. Church, South, under the ministry of our circuit preacher, the Rev. Wm. G. Hancock.  He labored zealously, and great interest was manifested by the people generally.  There were a number of penitents of whom about forty professed religion, and thirty-one joined the church.  It was certainly a very interesting meeting, and called our recollection to old times.  There is no other news of general interest in the county.  Everything is quiet.  The corn crop is looking well.  B.B.

REVIVAL OF RELIGION AT MANASSAS -- A correspondent writing from the town of Manassas to the Washington Republican says:  -- "The week of prayer has been a season of great religious profit.  The Methodist Episcopal and Presbyterian churches united and held the meetings alternatively in their respective places of worship.  The fourth quarterly meeting from Prince William circuit was held at Manassas Saturday and Sabbath.  The Presbyterian services were suspended, and the congregation attended the Methodist Episcopal Church.  The sum of $432 was secured in subscriptions on Sabbath morning for the liquidation of the indebtedness on the building.  This squares old accounts.  We want about $175 more to suitably fit up and furnish the Sunday school and lecture rooms.  The members of the church have contributed liberally for persons so limited in their means."

Revival services began at the Manassas Baptist Church on last Monday night.  Dr. Baker, of Leesburg, is conducting the meeting, assisted by Rev. H. L. Quarles.

I ANN LINTON NESBETT of the County of Prince William do make the following my last will and testament.  First. If my negro boy CHARLES should not sold before my decease for the payment of an execution which Carrs Exors had against WILLIAM DOWNMANs estate & which I have given a forthcoming bond for it is my will and desire that my executor should sell said negro boy CHARLES & pay off said debt & the balance if any be used for the benefit of my estate.  Secondly in consequence of two of my niece MARIA LESLEYS negros being sold to pay off debts due from CAPT. DOWNMANs estate & which her property as well mine was equally bound for I give her the said MARIA two of my negroes namely BILL & ALBERT which gift I hereby confirm.  Thirdly it is my will & desire that my executor as soon after my decease as it can conveniently be done sell my negro man JOHN and my negro woman CATE & her son GEORGE & her young child for cash, and out of the proceeds thereof pay to my nephew GEORGE BAYLEY two hundred dollars which is meant as a legacy from me to my said nephew & the balance arising from the sale of said negroes to be paid to my sister PHAMY LINTON at this time living near the sweet spring in the County of Monroe.  Fourthly I give and devise to my friend JOHN LINTON of the town of Dumfries my half of the tract of land (left by WM. DOWNMAN to myself & my sister LESLEY) and the balance of my negroes, stock, plantation utensils & household & kitchen furniture, in trust, as a support for my brother JAMES NESBETT during his life, and at his death the said trust is to cease and the whole of the said land & negroes with their increase & whatever stock, plantation utensils & household & kitchen furniture there is at that time, I will and devise to my niece MARIA LESLEY if she should be living, or if she be dead, and leave an heir or heirs it is my will that he her or them shall have the whole of said property, but if she should be dead & leave no child or children, then, it is my will & desire that the whole of said property should go to my sister PHAMY LINTONs two single daughters that are now living with her.  Fifthly I give all my wearing apparel to niece MARIA LESLEY.  It is my will and desire that the Court where this will is proven shall not take security of my executor and it is my particular will & desire that there should not be an appraisement or inventory of my estate.  Lastly I constitute and appoint my friend JOHN LINTON SENR. Executor to this my last will & testament.  In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this tenth day of October 1817.

At a Court held for Prince William County Dec 1^st 1817.  This last will and testament of ANN L. NESBETT decd. was presented to the Court by JOHN LINTON the Exor. therein named and being proved by the oaths of ANN HANCOCK and MARGARET HANCOCK is ordered to be recorded and the said and the said LINTON having taken the oath of an Exor and entered into bond without security (the testatrix by her will not requiring security and the Court agreeing that none should be given and one of the legatees being in Court and consenting thereto) certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.

In the name of God Amen I ROBERT THURMAN of Prince William County and State of Virginia being of sound mind and memory do make this my last will and testament as follow.  I give and bequeath unto my loving wife ELIZABETH THURMAN all my estate real and personal during her natural life and after her death to my children.  To my son EDMOND I give and bequeathe four hundred dollars payable in twelve months after the decease of my wife.  I also give and bequeath unto my grand daughter ANN FRANCIS, daughter of WM. THURMAN deceased the sum of two hundred dollars.  I also give and bequeath unto my son THOMAS a negro boy named AMOS.  I also give and bequeath the unto my son SANFORD the following negroes BARNETT, NAT and DANIEL.  I also give and bequeath unto my son JOHN a negro man named HENSON.  I also give and bequeath unto my daughter CATHERINE the following negroes SILVEY and JESSE.  I also give and bequeath unto my daughter PEGGY FEWELL the following negros ANN and her child SINAH.  I also give and bequeath unto my son JAMES the following NELL and ISAAC.  I also give and bequeath unto my grand children ELIZABETH FEWELL, WILLIAM FEWELL and ROBERT THURMAN son of JOHN a negro girl by the name of MARIAH.  I also give and bequeath unto my children THOMAS, SANFORD, and CATHARINE each one feather bed and one cow and calf.  I also give and bequeath unto my son SANFORD my lease called Thomas Lot.  I also give and bequeath unto my sons THOMAS and JOHN my Lease called Seales Lot.  I also give and bequeath unto my following children THOMAS, JAMES, JOHN, SANFORD, PEGGY and CATHARINE the balance of my estate to be equally divided between them after the death of my wife.  I appoint my sons THOMAS & SANFORD sole Executors of my estate, given under my hand this eleventh day of October in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and seventeen.

At a Court of Quarterly Sessions held for Prince William County Nov the 3^rd 1817.  This last will and testament of RBT. THURMAN decd. was presented to the Court and being proved by the oaths of JOHN M. WILKINSON and WM. L. WILKINSON, was thereupon admitted to record and –

At a Court held for said County Feby 2^nd 1818, THOMAS THURMAN one of the executors named in the last will and testament of ROBT. THURMAN decd. came into Court and made oath to the same according to law, and having taken the oath of an executor and performed what is usual in such cases, certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.
