PRAYER WEEK OBSERVED

Manassas Churches Unite in Nation-Wide Service -- To Close Sunday

A week of prayer is being observed this week in the Manassas churches. The schedule follows:

Monday - At Grace Methodist Episcopal Church, sermon by Rev. J. F. Burks, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church. Subject, Thanksgiving and Humiliation.

Tuesday - At Trinity Episcopal Church, sermon by Rev. Alford Kelley, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Subject, The Church Universal The One Body of Which Christ is the Head.

Wednesday - At the Presbyterian Church, sermon by Rev. J. Halpenny, pastor of  Asbury Methodist Episcopal Church. Subject, Nations and Their Rulers.

Thursday - At Grace Methodist Episcopal Church, sermon by Rev. T. D. D. Clark. Subject, Missions Among the Moslems and the Heathen.

Friday - At Asbury Methodist Episcopal Church, sermon by Rev. E. A. Roads, pastor of Grace Methodist Episcopal Church. Subject, Families, Schools, Colleges and the Young.

Sunday - At the Baptist Church, 7:30 p.m.; sermon by Rev. Dr. Mervin U. Roop, of Eastern College. Subject, The Constraint of Christ's Love.

MANASSAS CHURCHES PLAN PRAYER WEEK

Services to Begin Monday Evening in Asbury Methodist Episcopal Church

Manassas, Va., January 2 -- The churches of Manassas will observe a week of prayer, beginning Monday evening with services in Asbury Methodist Episcopal Church, conducted by Rev. C. E. Simmons, a superannuated Methodist minister.  The services Tuesday are to be conducted in Grace Methodist Episcopal Church South by Rev. Dr. H. L. Quarles, pastor of Manassas Baptist Church; Wednesday in the Presbyterian Church, by Rev. J. E. Slick, pastor of Asbury Church; Thursday in the Baptist Church, by Rev. J. F. Burke, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, and Friday in Trinity Episcopal Church, by Rev. E. A. Roads, pastor of Grace Church.

Sunday's Obituary: Rev. Andrew Cather

The remains of Rev. Andrew Cather, whose death occurred yesterday morning at his home in Prince William county, were forwarded last evening to Philadelphia for interment.  Mr. Cather was a venerable minister of the Methodist Church.  He owned a large estate near Manassas.

CATHER.  At Wellington, Va., on June 19, 1905.  Rev. ANDREW CATHER, aged 75 years.  Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services to-day (Wednesday), 21st inst. at the Asbury M. E. Church, Chestnut st., above 33d st.  Interment private.

Alexandria, Va., June 21 -- Rev. Andrew Cather, a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, died at Manassas on Monday.  His remains were brought to this city yesterday and not Philadelphia.*

Fredericksburg, VA, June 28 -- Rev. Andrew Cather, of Prince William county, died last week.  He is survived by his widow and several children.


* Although the Baltimore Sun seems convinced that Rev. Cather was buried in their city, the funeral was held in Philadelphia which implies he may have been interred in the Asbury M.E. church cemetery.

A LITTLE CHILD AT REST

Kenworth Brandt, Youthful Son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. D. Brandt, Passes Away

Early on Wednesday morning, the angel of death entered "Bonnie View," the country home of Mr. and Mrs. George D. Brandt, and bore to the heavenly rest the youthful spirit of little Kenworth, their only son, who had known but eight summers of this life.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon in Asbury Methodist church, and the little body will be laid to rest in the cemetery near town.  The pastor, Rev. J. E. Slick, will conduct the service.

Mr. and Mrs. Brandt are tendered the sympathy of the community in their bereavement.  Though a newcomer the little boy had won a place in the hearts of his young companions.  May the little sister's grief be assuaged by the affectionate interest of her friends.
