Wedding Wednesday: Howdershell-Bell

THE BRIDE OF WATERFALL

Waterfall, VA, December 20, 1902 -- A very pretty wedding was solemnized Wednesday evening at Antioch Baptist church, at this place, the contracting parties being Miss Edith Howdershell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howdershell, and Mr. Howard Stanley Bell, all of Prince William county.  At about 5:30 o'clock, to the strains of the Mendelsshon march, the bridal party entered the church from the vestibule, and the bride, with the maid of honor, Miss Clara Bell, sister of the groom, proceeded up the left aisle, while the groom, with the best man, Mr. William M. Jordan, proceeded up the right aisle, to the altar, where they were made one by the Rev. C. W. Trainham of Manassas.

The ushers were Mr. Randolph Smith, Mr. Charles Keyser, Mr. Herman Shirley, and Mr. Frank Pickett.

After the ceremony the happy couple was driven to Haymarket, where they took the train for a tour to points north.

MANASSAS, Va., Oct. 23 - Mr. William Payne and Miss Bertie Carter were married tonight at the Baptist Church.  The pastor, Rev. Mr. Trainham, officiated.  The groom is the son of Mr. Hugh Payne and the bride the eldest daughter of Mr. Shirley Carter, both of lower Prince William.

LEESBURG, Va., May 27 - Miss Maggie Carter, daughter of Mr. A. J. Carter, of Prince William county, was married to Mr. Edward P. Watson, of Watson, this county, on Tuesday at the residence of the bride's father, at Thoroughfare, Prince William county.  The bride was handsomely gowned.  Immediately after the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Watson left for an extended trip to Northern cities.  They will reside in Watson.

Wedding Wednesday: Nelson/Speiden (1901)

Miss Effie Lee Nelson, daughter of Mr. Edwin Nelson of Manassas, Va., and Mr. Albert Speiden of Washington were married last evening in the Baptist Church, Manassas, by the Rev. Dr. Charles H. Waters, assisted by Drs. Athey and Trainham.  The bride was escorted to the altar by her  brother, Mr. James E. Nelson, and attended by her cousin, Miss Nellie B. Nelson, while Mr. William L. Speiden attended the groom.  Miss Florence E. Herrell presided at the organ.  The ushers were Messrs. John H. Nelson, Frank R. Simpson, C. Paul Nelson, Cuthbert S. Speiden, Frank L. Slaymaker and Thomas L. Speiden.  After a reception and entertainment at the residence of the bride's parents Mr. and Mrs. Speiden left for Niagara and other parts north.
