SPECIAL EASTER PROGRAM

Rev. J. M. Taylor, of Manassas Baptist Church, to Make Address

(Superintendent)

Bristow Sunday School is preparing for a special Easter program for Sunday, April 1.

The children are planning a series of recitations and readings. The Rev. J. Murray Taylor, pastor of the Baptist Church in Manassas, will deliver an Easter address. Misses Margaret and Catherine Taylor will give some special music.

An Easter offering will be taken for the benefit of the Children's Home Society of Virginia.

All, regardless of church affiliation, are invited to attend the services. Now that winter is over and the bright spring days are here it is hoped that all who are convenient to the church will come out and help make Bristow Sunday School one of the best in the county.

Service at three o'clock in the afternoon.

ASA HAMILTON JENKINS WILL BE BURIED TODAY

Services for Manassas Business Man to Be Held from Baptist Church

MANASSAS, Va., December 3 -- Funeral services will be held this afternoon at the Manassas Baptist Church for Asa Hamilton Jenkins, prominent Manassas business man, who died suddenly at his home Tuesday afternoon.

Mr. Jenkins was a deacon in the Manassas Baptist Church and was prominent in the business and social life of the town. In partnership with his brother Ruben, he established the firm of Jenkins & Jenkins about 15 years ago. 

He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Jenkins of Madison County, Va., where he was born and reared. Previous to his residence in Manassas, he had been employed in the shoe business in Newport News, Va.

He is survived by his wife, who was formerly Miss Myrtle Lewis; a daughter, Betty Lee, and four brothers, Ruben Jenkins, Manassas; Aubrey Jenkins, Hood, Va.; Trent Jenkins, Wolf Town, Va.; Gaston Jenkins, Graves Mills., Va., and four sisters, Mrs. Phillip Kite, Mrs. Byron Deale, Graves Mills; Mrs. Nettie Graves, Rapidan, Va., and Mrs. Granville Berry, Oak Park, Va.

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE IS FEATURE AT MANASSAS

MANASSAS, Va., April 12 -- An Easter sunrise service at Manassas Presbyterian Church at 7 a.m. tomorrow, conducted by the Rev. John M. DeChant, will precede a day devoted to worship in five churches here.

The Rev. James Widmer, pastor of All Saints' Catholic Church, will sing Easter mass tomorrow at 8 a.m.

Worshippers at Manassas Baptist Church were to hear a service based on the them, "Dead, Buried and Risen With Him," conducted by the Rev. R. M. Graham at 11 a.m.

A holy communion service was to be held at Manassas Lutheran Church, with Rev. A. W. Ballentine officiating. The Luther League and the study class will meet at 7:15 p.m.

Trinity Episcopal Church members will attend communion services at 8 a.m. and hear a sermon by the Rev. A. Stuart Gibson. 

Tomorrow night an Easter cantata, "Immortality," will be presented at the Grace Methodist Church by the choir.

This 19 February 1913 marriage license and certificate between Walter Henry Miller, s/o H.A. and Mary, of Prince William County, and Agnes Elizabeth Jacobs, d/o Jacob and Lizzie, of Fauquier County, can be found as part of the case record for the divorce suit filed in 1920.

The wedding was performed by H. L. Quarles, a pastor of the Manassas Baptist Church.

REV. CLIFTON STORKE ORDAINED TO PREACH

Service in Belle Haven Church

Woodbridge and Stafford Churches Join in Call -- Pastor and Deacons of Manassas Baptist Church Assist in Ordination

The Woodbridge and the Stafford Baptist churches have called the Rev. Storke to take charge of those churches, as pastor there-of, the Belle Haven church of which Mr. Storke is a member, requested the pastor and the deacons of Manassas Baptist church to enlist in Rev. Storke's ordination which took place on Sunday morning.

The ordination sermon was preached by Rev. H. L. Quarles, Deacon Westwood Hutchison delivered the charge to the church; Rev. Jos. F. Gulick the charge to the candidate; Rev. Mr. Cummings, pastor of the Belle Haven church, presented the bible, and Rev. W. WT. Wine delivered the ordination prayer.

There was all-day services, a large attendance and a sumptuous dinner served in the beautiful grove adjacent to the church.

FUNERAL OF FORMER TOWN BOY

Thomas Bernard Castle, Six-Year Old Son of Army Captain, Buried Here

Thomas Bernard Castle, six-year old son of Capt. and Mrs. Bosier Castle, at one time a resident of Manassas, died last week in Texas, where his father is stationed with the army. His death came as the result of complications which set in after an attack of whooping cough suffered several weeks ago.

When the little fellow's father was serving with the American expeditionary forces overseas during the recent world conflict, Bernard and his mother resided in Manassas, at the home of Mrs. A. A. Maloney.

The deceased's body was brought to Manassas for burial, and was laid to rest Wednesday in the Manassas cemetery, funeral services being conducted by Rev. T. D. D. Clark from the Manassas Baptist Church.  Capt. Castle attended his little son's funeral, but, on account of illnss, Mrs. Castle could not attend.

The pallbearers were Messers. J. B. Leachman, B. H. Lewis, Ashby Lewis, Jr., and John Maloney.

Services to Begin Monday Evening in Asbury Methodist Episcopal Church

Manassas, Va., January 2 -- The churches of Manassas will observe a week of prayer, beginning Monday evening with services in Asbury Methodist Episcopal Church, conducted by Rev. C. E. Simmons, a superannuated Methodist minister.  The services Tuesday are to be conducted in Grace Methodist Episcopal Church South by Rev. Dr. H. L. Quarles, pastor of Manassas Baptist Church; Wednesday in the Presbyterian Church, by Rev. J. E. Slick, pastor of Asbury Church; Thursday in the Baptist Church, by Rev. J. F. Burke, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, and Friday in Trinity Episcopal Church, by Rev. E. A. Roads, pastor of Grace Church.

Letter from Prince William County.

DUMFRIES, August 21 -- We have had for the last ten days a very interesting revival here in the M. E. Church, South, under the ministry of our circuit preacher, the Rev. Wm. G. Hancock.  He labored zealously, and great interest was manifested by the people generally.  There were a number of penitents of whom about forty professed religion, and thirty-one joined the church.  It was certainly a very interesting meeting, and called our recollection to old times.  There is no other news of general interest in the county.  Everything is quiet.  The corn crop is looking well.  B.B.

REVIVAL OF RELIGION AT MANASSAS -- A correspondent writing from the town of Manassas to the Washington Republican says:  -- "The week of prayer has been a season of great religious profit.  The Methodist Episcopal and Presbyterian churches united and held the meetings alternatively in their respective places of worship.  The fourth quarterly meeting from Prince William circuit was held at Manassas Saturday and Sabbath.  The Presbyterian services were suspended, and the congregation attended the Methodist Episcopal Church.  The sum of $432 was secured in subscriptions on Sabbath morning for the liquidation of the indebtedness on the building.  This squares old accounts.  We want about $175 more to suitably fit up and furnish the Sunday school and lecture rooms.  The members of the church have contributed liberally for persons so limited in their means."
