NEW YEAR'S EVE DANCE

A New Year's Eve dance attended by a large company of young people was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. Raymond Ratcliffe, in Grant Avenue, with their young son, Master Jack Ratcliffe, as host.

Among the guests were Misses Nancy Waters, Anna Bruce Whitmore, Virginia Conner, Elizabeth Coleman, Susie Gibson, Wilhelmina Wenrich, Anne Davies and Dabney Waters, Hawes Davies, Jenkyn Davies, Ned Bradford, Ashby Rogers, Henry Lee Lewis, Charles Walton Lewis, Charles Armistead Sinclair, Wallace Lynn, Preston Lyon, Robert Morris Henry, Robert Weir and Beverly Adams.

MANASSAS

PAUL PORTNER, of Washington was a guest his week at Annaburg. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Nash entertained at a dinner at their residence on Church street, the guests including Mr. and Mrs. J. R. B. Davis, Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Davis, Mr. and Mrs. I. E. Cannon, Mr. Nash's niece, Mrs. Bresnahan, and Washington. Miss Margaret Lynch was the guest of Miss Winifred Bronson, of Washington, for the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Ramsey Taylor have returned to Norfolk after spending several days with relatives here. Mr. and Mrs.H. L. Bouncy, of Clarendon, were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Davis, at Bristow, for the week-end.

Local Masons who attended the Knights Templar banquet at the Plains recently were: Hon. C. J. Meetze, C. E. Nash, I. E. Cannon, W. H. Brown, O. D. Waters, J. R. B. Davis, H. P. Davis, G. W. Merchant, H. T. Davis, R. S. Hynson and T. F. Coleman. The Messrs. Bucker, of Clarendon, were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Davis, at Bristow, last week. Harvey Janney has returned to Manassas after spending a week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tyson Janney, at Occoquan. Miss Lena Akers was the guest of her sister, Mrs. William Gulick, in Washington, last week.

Miss Ida Camper, of Orange, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Henry Camper. Miss Lucy Buck and Miss Glasscock, of Agnesville, were week-end guests at the home of Doctor and Mrs. R. C. Buck.

Law & Order: WARRANT DISMISSED (Forest Hill Church)

WARRANT DISMISSED

Mr. Linden Atchison was tried at Joblins [sic], Prince William county, Saturday, before Squire Keys, charged with disturbing religious worship at Forest Hill church in that county.

The case was heard in a private room in the residence of Mr. Crow, none being allowed to be present save the witnesses and attorneys.

Squire Keys after hearing the testimony of some 15 witnesses, most of whom said that a Mr. Anderson was the cause of the disburbance, dismissed the case and discharged Atchison.

Commonwealth's Attorney Davis and R. A. Hutchinson, of Manassas, represented Anderson, who swore out the warrant, and Frederick W. Coleman represented Atchison.

MANASSAS, VA. October 20 -- Miss Ruth Althea Round, second daughter of Lieutenant and Mrs. George Carr Round, and Allison A. Hooff were quietly married here on Monday evening at the home of the bride, by Rev. J. F. Burks, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church. After a Northern wedding tour they will return to the Hooff residence, in Grant Avenue, Manassas. The bride is a graduate of the Manassas High School and the State Normal School, at Harrisonburg. She has been instructor of physical education at the Orthopedic Hospital, at White Plains, N.Y.; the Binford High School at Richmond, and the Harrisonburg Normal. Mr. Hooff, who is a native of Charles Town, W. Va., is the junior partner in a Manassas lumber firm.

Dr. and Mrs. William J Bell celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Tuesday evening at their home, near Brentsville, Prince William County, five children and ten of their twenty-five grandchildren being present. Dr. and Mrs. Bell are natives of Augusta County, Mrs. Bell before her marriage having been Miss. Mary Agnes Patterson. Dr. Bell served in the Confederate army.

The Manassas Good Housekeepers' Club was entertained on Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Thomas F. Coleman.

The Manassas Chapter of the American Red Cross has elected the following officers: chairman, George G. Tyler, clerk of Prince William County; vice-chairman, Mrs. George T. Lyon; treasurer, L. Frank Pattie, cashier of the National Bank of Manassas; secretary, Miss Mary Larkin, editor of the Manassas Journal, and executive committee, W. C. Wagener, Mayor of Manassas; Mrs. C. M. Larkin, principal of the Manassas graded school; Mrs. C. R. C. Johnson, Mrs. R. S. Hynson, and Mrs. J. F. Burkes, wife of the rector of Trinity Church.

Mrs. James F. Birkett has returned from an extended stay in Rupert, Idaho, where she was the guest of her son-in-law and daughter, Rev. and Mrs. Robert Lee Lewis.

Mr. and Mrs. James R. Larkin attended the State Fair at Richmond, and visited their son, Private Francis Norvell Larkin, at Camp Lee.

Miss Marianna Speiden, of Washington, was the recent guest of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Speiden.

Miss Mary Lee Chapman has returned from Roanoke, where she was the guest of her grandmother, Mrs. Martha Chapman.
