Pursuant to an order of the worshipful Court of Prince Wm. Cty. bearing date the 4th of March 1811 we the undersigned commissioners therein named met at the house of the late Jesse Barron on the 12th inst. and after being first sworn proceeded to view and appraise the personal property of the sd. Barron and do make report thereof as follows viz.

In the name of God Amen, I James Rose of the county of Prince William and state of Virginia being very sick & weak but of perfect mind and memory, and knowing the frailty of human nature, do commit my body to the Earth to be buried in a decent manner and my soul to my beloved Jesus who gave it me, to dispose of as he may see fit.  Item, I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Jane Rose all my property that I may die possessed of, to dispose of as she may think proper, after first paying all my just and lawfull debt. Also, I appoint my well beloved wife Jane Rose my whole and sole Executrix to this my last will and testament revoking all others. In witness whereof I have affixed my hand and seal this Twenty Fourth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen.

This last will and testament of James Rose decd was presented to the court and being proved by the oath of Elizabeth Petty is ordered to be certified. AT a court of Quarterly sessions continued and held for said county June 4th 1816, This last will and Testament of James Rose decd was fully proved by the oath of Hendly Barron and ordered to be recorded.

Sunday's Obituary: Rebecca Ann (Latimer) Barron

At the residence of Mrs. Latimer, near Brentsville, Prince William County, Va., on Monday, the 31st of July, in the 56th year of her age, Mrs. Rebecca Ann Barron, wife of Henry A. Barron, of Alleghany county, Md. -- Mrs. B. has been confined to her room and bed for more than 6 months, with a cancer. Her sufferings were intense all the time, but they were borne by her with that christian resignation for which she was so eminent. She embraced religion in the year 1833, and joined the M. E. Church of which she continued a consistent member to the day of her death. Her trust in the Lord was firm, and her death peaceful and happy.  She leaves an afflicted husband, and numerous friends and relatives to mourn their loss.

Sunday's Obituary: Alexander L. Dade

From the Norfolk Beacon, Sept. 17

It is with deep regret we announce the melancholy casualty by which the naval service has suddenly been deprived of a young officer of valuable promise, his associates of a companion high in their esteem, and a widowed mother and sister of one in whom their kindest affections were centered.

Midshipman Alexander L. Dade, attached to the U.S. ship North Carolina, in ordinary at the Navy Yard, Gosport, was accidentally drowned from that ship on Wednesday night last, by stepping from the bow port, as he was supposed upon the gratings in the head, but which unhappily having been removed without his knowledge during the day, he was precipitated into the river, and disappeared before assistance could be rendered.

Mr. Dade was a native of Prince William County, in this state, and a son of the late Judge Dade; he entered the naval service 1st Nov. 1827.

Every effort was made during yesterday, by dragging, firing of cannon, &c. to recover the body, but all exertion proved unsuccessful, until this afternoon, when it was effected, and received every attention from Com. Barron.
