ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 9 -- Mr. John P. Brawner, 66 years old, died this morning at his home, 1307 Prince street. He came here from Prince William county, where he had spent his life in farming. His remains will be taken tomorrow to Bethel Cemetery.

DEATH OF EX-CONGRESSMAN MEREDITH

MANASSAS, Va., July 29 -- Ex-Congressman E. E. Meredith died at his home here this afternoon from an acute obstruction of the bowels.  Dr. J. Ford Thompson of Washington and Dr. O'Brien of Alexandria were summoned here to perform an operation, but death ensued while they were making preparations for the operation.

Evening Wedding of Prominent Young People at Berryville

Berryville, Va., Oct. 12 - The marriage of Miss Nannie Gray McDonald, daughter of the late Capt. William N. McDonald and Mrs. Catherine S. McDonald, of this place, to Mr. Ellerty Leckie Evstaphieve, of Prince William County, Va., was solemnized this evening in Grace Episcopal Church.  The ceremony was performed by Rev. Arthur P. Gray, an uncle of the bride, assisted by Rev. Edward Wall, rector of Grace Church, and was witnessed by a large assemblage of society people.

Mr. Clarence Alexis Evstaphieve, of New York city, acted as best man, and the ushers were Messrs. Hugh N. McDonald, a brother of the bride, of York, Pa.; Harrison Tyler, of Fauquier County, Va.; R. Douglas Simms, and Dr. Selma M. Mason, of Washington; Walter Clerkson, of Haymarket, Va., and Blackburn Smith, of Berryville.

This deed made this 21 day of April 1904, between Sarah A. Gray and Ellen Gray, of the Town of Haymarket, Va., parties of the first part and C. E. Jordan, T.J. Chew and A.H. Johnson trustees of St. Pauls Episcopal Church at Haymarket, Va., parties of the second part.  Witnesseth:  That for and in consideration of the fact that the Kings Daughters and the Ladies Aid Society, the auxiliaries of the said Church, have supported, for a number of years, and are now supporting the parties of the first part, and in the further consideration of the sum of Five Dollars, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, the said Sarah A. Gray and Ellen Gray have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and convey, with general warranty, unto the said parties of the second part, trustees as aforesaid, all of their title and interest in the following described real estate, to wit:  All of that certain parcel or lot of ground lying and being situate in the Town of Haymarket, Prince William County, Va., and bounded and described as follows, All of that lot upon which a frame house is now standing, which said lot adjoins the lot sold by John Barnett and wife to John Maddux, which said two lots are bounded as follows: Beginning at the corner of Lafette and Franklin streets and running S.W. with Layfette street 250 feet, thence S.E. 175 feet, with William street, thence N.E. 250 feet to Franklin street, thence N.W. 175 feet with Franklin street to the beginning, which said two lots are described in the plan of the said Town as Lots Nos. 107 and 116; and for a more particular description of the said lot reference is made to Deed Book No. 8, page 130, of the land records of said county.  This is the same property upon which the parties of the first part now reside.

Memo:  The general object of the above styled suit is to make sale of a certain lot or parcel of land lying and being situate in the town of Haymarket, Prince William County, Virginia, bounded by Lafayette, Franklin and Williams streets, being a lot 175 x 250 feet, with improvements thereon, and of which the late John R. Shirley died seized and possessed, and belonging to the said Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, at Haymarket, Virginia, Martha M. Stille, Emma Cologne, Hamilton Clark and James D. Shirley, and divide the proceeds thereof amongst the parties entitled thereto.

I WILLIAM TYLER SENIOR of the county of Prince William do make the following my last will and testament as follows.  It is my will and desire that my estate consisting of lands, negroes & stock should be kept together and worked and managed as it has been heretofore by myself for the term of six years from the first day of next January and the proceeds of the crops to be applied to the payment of all my just debts & the support and education of my children.  It is my desire that my Executors herein after named or their survivors shall keep regular accounts for what each child has from the estate towards their board, cloathing and education and at the general distribution to let each childs account be deducted out of their part of my estate, if at the expiration of the above mentioned six years my executors or a majority of them should think it more for the interest of the estate for it to be kept still longer together.  I hereby empower them to keep it together and undivided for the further space of two years longer and then to divide it equally among my children living at the time, and if any of my said children should marry & die before the division of the estate & leaves children, that their child or children should have their father or mothers part.  It is further my will intention and desire that my executors should have full power and authority to sell the whole or part of either of the two tracts of land I purchased of ELISHA EVANS, and the Estate of the late RICHARD BRENT on cedar run if they in their judgment should think it for the advantage of my children or if my debts should make it necessary at any time before the general division of my property takes place; when the period arrives which my executors fixes on for a division of my property among my children, it is my will and desire that the negroes should be equally divided, and that they my executors shall use their discretion and judgment in the division of the lands that then belongs to the estate (that is to say) they may either lay off in equal proportions or sell them for the best price they can get and divide the money among my children or their heirs.  It is also my will & intention that when the general division of my property takes place that the whole of the stock & crop then on the estate should be sold and the proceeds equally divided as the other property is divided.  It is also my will and desire that if at any time before the division takes place my executors or a majority of them shall have full power to purchase any property either real or personal which they may think will benefit the estate, and any property so purchased is to be considered in the same situation as the property I die possessed of and lastly I constitute and appoint my friend JOHN LINTON, WILLIAM LINTON, WILLIAM TYLER, JUNR., & JOHN WEBB TYLER executors to this my last will.  It is my will and desire that the above named JOHN LINTON should be the principal and governing executor and his advise to be followed by the other executors.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this 14th day of September 1816.

This my codicil to my will.  It is my wish and desire that my Executors furnish my servant JAMES with a horse the value of fifty dollars and that he be annually decently dressed.  It is also my wish and desire that my racing jockey club engagements be this fall complied with and forever after dissolved.  September the 26, 1816.

This last will and testament of WM. TYLER decd. was returned to the Court and being proved by the oath of GUSTAVUS B. TYLER is ordered to be certified, and at a Court held by adjournment for Prince William County Decembr. 3rd 1816, this last will and testament of WM. TYLER decd. was fully proved by the oaths of NATHANIAL GRAY and JAMES W. WALLACE and ordered to be recorded.  And on the same day a codicil to the Court in the last will and testament of the said WILLIAM TYLER decd. was presented to the court and being proved by the oath of JAMES W. WALLACE is ordered to be recorded, and WILLIAM LINGON one of the Exors. Named in the last will and testament of WM. TYLER decd. came into court and made oath to sd. Will and codicil thereto and having taken the oath of an Exor. and performed what is usual in such case certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form/

In the name of God amen I RICHARD GRAY of County of Prince William & State of Virginia being very sick of body but perfect sound mind and memory and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is once appointed for all men to die do make this my last will and testament and do devise and dispose of what it hath pleased God to bless with in this life in the following manner and form as follows Viz.

And first of all I recommend my soul to God that first gave it me nothing doubting but I shall receive the same at the General Resurrection at the last day & my body to be buryed in Christian manner at the discretion of my Executors whom hereafter I shall appoint.

Item.  I give and bequeath unto my loving wife MARY GRAY all & every part of my estate as it now stands both real and personally during her natural life and at her death as follows. 

Item I give & bequeath unto my loving son WILLIAM GRAY one negro man named ADAM one negro boy named ANTHONY & one negro girl named JANNEY to him and his heirs for ever.

Item I give and bequeath unto my loving son JAMES GRAY one negro woman named SARAH and one negro boy named DANIEL but if the above mentioned negro woman SARAH should have any more children hereafter they are to be equally divided between my son RICHARD GRAY and my son JAMES GRAY but at the death of my son RICHARD GRAY the hole of them with increas is to return to my son JAMES GRAY forever and as to my least lott of lands whereon I now live and my stock of every kind and my houshold and kitchen furniture and plantation & essentials my just debts are justly to be paid out of them and at the death of my wife the lott of land stock of every kind house hold furniture of every kind and plantation essentials of every kind is to be equally divided between my three sons WILLIAM GRAY, RICHARD GRAY, and JAMES GRAY as to my five children that are married and gone from me I have given them their parts allready that is to say my daughter ELLENDER NELSON & my son BENJAMIN GRAY & my son SAMUEL GRAY and my son CHARLES GRAY and my daughter EMLEY CALVERT and I do hereby appoint and ordain my son WILLIAM GRAY my son RICHARD GRAY & my son JAMES GRAY my whole & sole Executors of this my last will and testament and do hereby revoke disannul and disallow all & every bequeath or bequest legacy will or testament before this time mentioned ratifying and confirming this and kno other as witness my hand & seal this 20th day of November 1798.
