Prince William County, Virginia is rich in history. Formed in 1731, it was named for Prince William, Duke of Cumberland, son of King George II. This blog is intended as a place for descendants and researchers of PWCo families to find and share information.
Revolutionary or Civil War ancestor? I'm guessing CW. There were several homes/buildings that served as hospitals, especially around Manassas. Some records survive; more for the Federal troops than for the Confederate. What was your ancestor(s) name and/or what Unit did they serve in?
Just spent a very nice weekend in your county!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed yourself. There's so much to see and do! Do you have any ancestors in the county? :)
DeleteI had ancestors who fought & died there. There was a hospital where one soldier died. Would there be records of that in the area?
