NOTICE -- My name appeared sometime since in the Gazette, as one to be voted for as Sheriff of Prince William County, at the ensuing election, but circumstances (which is not necessary to mention) render it impracticable for me to be a candidate for that office at this moment and through this medium I respectfully decline, and return my sincere thanks to those whose kind feelings have brought my name in connection with that important office.

A marriage of much interest throughout Virginia was that of Miss Claudia Waters, of Manassas, and David Marion Pitts, formerly of Elk Hill, but now of Manassas, the ceremony having taken place on July 2 in Washington. The Rev. William E. Collender, of the Church of the Ascension, officiated. The bride is a granddaughter of the late Robert M. Weir, of Prince William County, and Mr. Pitts is a son of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Pitts, of Elk Hill. Both are widely related throughout the State, and their marriage is of much interest to their relatives and friends here. Mr. Pitts is a graduate of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and since his graduation has been in charge of the well known Porter estate, near Manassas.

SCHOOL NOTICE

The Brentsville District School Board desires modern sanitary closets built at the schools of the district not already supplied. Twelve or fourteen will be required, and specifications for some can be obtained from any member of the Board, viz:  R. H. Davis, Bristow; J. T. Flory, Nokesville; or J. R. Cooke, Greenwich. Contractors can bid on all or any specific number, and the Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids. Bids should be sent to J. R. Cooke, Clerk of the Board, on or before February 21, 1914.

Frederick, Jan. 24 -- Haywood Triplett of Prince William county, a Confederate veteran, was stricken with heart trouble while seated at the breakfast table a few mornings ago, and fell from his chair, expiring instantly.

ATTORNEY TRIPLETT'S FATHER PASSES AWAY

Attorney Roderick Triplett received a telegram yesterday morning informing him of the death of his father, Haywood F. Triplett in Gainesville, VA. The deceased was 68 years old and had been in excellent health for many years. The news of his unexpected death came as a great shock to his son and his family.

Mr. Triplett will leave to attend the funeral, which will occur Friday evening.

[Haywood Foote Triplett, Jr., 5 September 1842 to 18 January 1911, is buried in Gainesville Methodist Church Cemetery.]

LEACHMAN REUNION

A reunion of the Leachman clan was held Tuesday at "Paradise," the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Dogan.  Members of the family included the nine sons and daughters of the late Col. Thomas Leachman - Messrs. J. P. and C. C. Leachman, of Manassas and Thomas R. Leachman, of Lynchburg; Mrs. E. L. Carroll, of Charlottesville; Miss Katherine Leachman, of Washington; Mrs. Dogan, of Paradise, and Mrs. Bessie Elliot, Mrs. R. C. Buck and Mrs. Roberta Lynn, of Manassas -- a number of grandchildren, including Mrs. Dogan's daughter, Mrs. C. C. Lynn, of Bristow; Miss Lillian Leachman, of Bristow, daughter of County Treasurer Leachman, Miss Constance Leachman, of Charlottesville, daughter of Mr. T. R. Leachman; Miss Mary Beverley Leachman, of Manassas, daughter of C. C. Leachman, and Miss Elizabeth Buck, of Manassas, daughter of Mrs. Buck.

Other guests were Mrs. W. L. Bradbury, of Orange, a relative of the family; Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. McDonald, of Catharpin, and Miss Martha Bates, of Washington.
